extend quiz times per student, not just per quiz.

This idea has been developed and deployed to Canvas

I know that quiz times can be changed/extended by going into each quiz and selecting the student to grant more time ('moderate a quiz').  However, this can prove tedious if you know that one student (or many for that matter), are going to need more time in ALL a course's quizzes than other students.  Not just one quiz at a time.  A great feature would be to be able to go into a student's settings and extend the quiz times in one fell swoop, if that makes sense.  Now, one has to go to each quiz, "moderate it", then select that student and change the quiz time. Repeat for every course quiz.

Thanks!

acardenas1 It's a good idea to have different time limits in the Assign section of a quiz, which would help if there were a group that needed extra time; but it would still have to be done on every quiz separately.  I sure hope this idea gets beyond product radar, having a per-student time extension in a course.

Hello,

I work in the disability services office and am currently in the process of extending test times for those students that qualify.  It is incredibly tedious and time consuming.  This is why many professors are simply reluctant to handle it themselves, and I have to do it.  The idea popped into my head as I was extending 42 different quizzes and exams for ONE student in ONE class.  This feature would help tremendously! PLEASE, PLEASE, consider creating it.

Thank you!

Some great ideas here!

@dschober ‌ - This would be a useful feature the instructors would likely desire.  Especially ones with weekly quizzes.

We always want to make it easier for instructors to teach, and to not need to worry about the details... There was a feature in eCollege that allowed for this.  We had to move away from it, because the way I believe our disabilities office works, is that a student needs to request the accommodation per class.  Applying it at the profile level included classes that they did not have permission for extensions with.  It would be great if the school's policy's changed and a profile setting could make this happen.  Voted up!  It would also be good if instead of a blanket profile change that the profile had options next to each course so that it could be applied individually, and that information would follow through to the People tab or Context card so that instructors know that the exception was applied.

I am voting for this change because it add convenience to the process while taking away nothing.  I find that in some situations I simply want to add a bit of time, whereas at other timed I want to moderate the quiz for a student to take it from scratch.

I have received several requests, this week, for a feature like this, where the instructors don't have to go from assignment to assignment or quiz to quiz to accommodate students, this should be an option at the student level.

This feature is now available through the new Quizzes LTI tool.  Find more information on the Quizzes LTI tool, and how to access it, at Quizzes LTI User Group

Please get this done!  The current moderation system is a pain in the butt!
