multiple-part assignment capability in gradebook

My university is changing from Blackboard to Canvas. I have just discovered that one of the features of the Blackboard gradebook is evidently not possible on Canvas, so I would like to suggest you develop something similar.

Here it is: in a class with a lot of grades, I have certain assignments that have multiple parts. So, for example, say the course has 37 assignments. Assignment 34 has four parts of unequal weight. So with Blackboard I could set it up such that Assignment 34 was the weighted average of those four parts, using four additional grade columns. 

I'd appreciate your developing an equivalent.
