A new module created shows as COMPLETED in View Progress mode

Help! I created a new module with 1 discussion lesson in it. I checked that it's a graded lesson and put the number of points. As soon as I finished it, saved it, then when I go to the VIEW PROGRESS tab in Modules, and scroll down through my students it shows they've all COMPLETED it, which is obviously not true. When I go to grades there is nothing in the grade book for any of them. Any idea how to fix this so when the student goes into their modules they don't think they've already completed a module that they haven't?

Did you go into the module itself and edit settings to add that the discussion is required?

If you don't add the requirement to the module, the "View Progress" feature will not register that there are any progress requirements.
