Google LTI integration creates files for students no longer enrolled. How can I stop that?

I have had a lot of students dropped out of my courses during the first weeks of the semester due to schedule changes, different ELL level, no-shows, etc.

The class rosters in Canvas are up to date. The students to not show up under 'people' of this course. 

However, when I create a google LTI assignment it creates a file for those dropped students in the 
"Assignment" folder on google drive.

I would like the LTI integration only to create assignments for the students that are enrolled in this course. Where does google LTI get the information of who it is supposed to assign/create a copy for and how can I change this?

It sounds like your school isn't actually removing those students from your course, but marking them as inactive.  When you go to the People page, in the top right settings menu view Prior Enrollments to see if those students are still listed.  If so, it's because the IT folks at your school are not removing them, but just marking them as Inactive.

It seems like assignments were create for students who were inactive but who were part of a group that I created before.

Not all prior students had assignments created for them in google drive. Only the ones who were in a group I created. (Course English 10 was divided up in groups to match their Periods because the sections created in Canvas were incorrect).

The students who were just enrolled before and not a part of the group did not have assignments created. I was able to delete the students from the groups I have created - hopefully that solves it.
