Moving a question from a group to the bank.

I wanted to move a quiz question to the question bank for use on a different quiz. After reading up, this seemed to go smoothly.  However, the questions I wanted to copy were nested within a question group on the initial quiz and did not appear to come through to the question bank.  I went back to the original quiz, moved the questions out of the groups and tried to retrieve them for the desired quiz.  No sign of them in the quiz bank. Now what?  They were rather long, complicated questions and I have already spent more time trying to figure out how to do this as opposed to starting over from scratch.

This seems unnecessarily complex.  How can I do this?
