Problem with Copying Assignments

I believe Canvas updated last week and when it did, the following problem now occurs. When you go to copy an assignment from one class to another it now gives you the list of all classes in Canvas, including the ones archived from several years past. Before the update, it only showed the current semester courses. This is troublesome because all the courses are listed as the same and you can't tell which are the courses from this semester.

Yes! This is the worst! So many of my colleagues and I are hating this change. We have courses in canvas going back to 2013 so it is A LOT of scrolling to find what you are looking for. I've taught the same class for multiple years so the search feature is less than helpful. I've seen workarounds to edit the current course names so that they show up first but that doesn't work in districts that sync to another system, like mine - I don't have the ability to change this. So, I have to remember the specific course code and type that in, along with the other 7 clicks that are required to copy one assignment from one course to another. I need this fixed!

We are also experiencing the same problem at my high school. When the Copy To feature was introduced, we loved it. Now it is a pain to use because all our courses have the same name and number. Is there a way the old courses can be archived, or at least the current courses show up on top?

Canvas is aware of the issue and is working on fixing it.  See the post by @Stef_retired  on this thread. Hopefully it will be fixed soon!

I discovered this setting that I have a current and past  copy of the same course with the same CRN number.  Fortunately, they appear in the same order.  If I choose the wrong one it will show an error message, and I can try again.
