extend time

I know how to extend time prior to a quiz and even during a quiz.  But today I accidentally removed 3 students who had 6 minutes left of an 80 point final exam.  I do not want to grant them another attempt, I just want to give them a few more minutes to work on the exam.  How can I do this?

I'm not sure what you mean by "remove" them.  Do you mean you deleted their attempt?  If so, I think they would have to start over as that first attempt is gone. 

If you can get their first attempt back, probably the easiest way would be to sit with them and time it. If it's online, you'd have to do so during a video call. 

This is a long shot, and would only work if only those three students needed to take it.  But you might be able to adjust the time allowed on the exam to 6 minutes.  I honestly don't think it will work, I don't think Canvas will let you reduce the time for them on an attempt they they started. But might be worth a try. As I said above, I'm not even sure what will happen when you add them back in.
