How do I add an image to a course card in the Dashboard?

If your institution allows, you can upload an image to display behind the course card in the Canvas Dashboard. Accepted images include JPG, JPEG, GIF, and PNG files. For best practice, images should be approximately 262 pixels wide by 146 pixels high.

Images can also be added from Unsplash. All images from Unsplash are licensed under the Unsplash License.

When added to a course, images display behind a color overlay in the course card. The overlay color is a user setting defined individually by each user in the Dashboard. Although the color overlay can be completely removed by a user, best practice is to use an image that can display well behind a variety of colors.

Comments

When I follow these steps, Canvas imposes a color filter over the image, creating an unpleasant distortion of the original colors of the image. I see how I can change the color of the filter, but I do not see how I can remove that filter entirely so that I see only the image in an unaltered state. Can you show me how to remove that color filter?

@jcrooks Yes, you have the Color Overlay option enabled in the Card View Dashboard. This guide shows how to disable the color overlay and/or change the color: https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Instructor-Guide/How-do-I-view-my-favorite-courses-in-the-Card-Vi...
