This behavior is resolved in the 2021-09-01 deploy.

Known issues indicate notable behaviors that has been escalated to the Canvas engineering team. Known issues are not a guarantee for an immediate resolution. This document is for informational purposes only and does not replace the Support process. If you are encountering the behavior outlined in this document, please ensure you have submitted a Support case (per your institution's escalation process) so Canvas Support can adequately gauge the overall customer impact and prioritize appropriately.

When Canvas for Elementary (K5) is enabled and the course is setup to be a homeroom, users cannot see the message button (envelope icon) for a teacher from the resources tab, if the teacher has a long bio. The message button is instead cut off by the important dates section on the right side (see attached screenshot).

Expected Behavior

Instead the message button should not be pushed behind the important dates section.

Zoom out of the browser until you see the message icon.

Steps to Reproduce

Prerequisites: Have an instance with Canvas for Elementary enabled. One published course that has homeroom checked in course settings. Have at least one student and one teacher in the course.

  1. As the teacher, add a bio on their profile with lots of text

  2. As the student, navigate to the homeroom dashboard

  3. Navigate to Resources

  4. Under Staff Contact Info, notice that the teacher does not show a message button to the right
