Classic quiz auto-save references text from prior answer

This behavior is corrected in the 2021-08-18 deploy.

If a student leaves a classic quiz attempt after they have answered essay questions, when they resume the quiz they are given a prompt to load auto-saved content. If the user agrees to load auto-saved content, the previous answer is added to the current question answer field. This is a problem because students do not want the wrong answer added, or overwriting, the current question answer.

Expected Behavior

Instead the auto-saved prompt should be referencing the auto-saved text from the question in focus, not the previously answered question.

If you click no or the 'x' on the prompt it will not insert the incorrect text.

Steps to Reproduce

  • Prerequisite: A published course with at least one student. One classic quiz with at least two essay questions. Check the quiz setting to show one question at a time.

  1. Start the quiz as a student

  2. Input text in the essay question for question one

  3. Click next

  4. Navigate away from the quiz to stop taking the quiz, e.g. click home in course nav

  5. Resume the quiz

  6. Click the text field for question two

  7. Notice that there is a prompt that states there was auto-saved text recorded and asks if you want to insert it

  8. If you click yes, the answer from the previous question will be added
