The Instructure Community will enter a read-only state on November 22, 2025 as we prepare to migrate to our new Community platform in early December. Read our blog post for more info about this change.

This behavior has been resolved and deployed to the production environment as of 6/25/25.
When using a formula or numeric question in New Quizzes the Formula Definition/Answer field doesn’t let you input a comma for a decimal in the answer field.
Languages that use a comma for decimal places should have the answer field let them save a comma in it.
No workaround exists at this time.
Prerequisite: A course with the language set to one that uses commas for decimals (for example Deutsch)
Create a New Quiz.
Add a formula question
Attempt to create a Formula Definition with a comma instead of a period in the answer field
Observe that the comma is removed and displays the closest whole number instead
Create a numeric question and observe that the comma decimal is just removed (instead of 2,5 it enters as 25)
