New Quizzes using Respondus do not respect assignment overrides and time limits

This behavior is resolved in the 2021-07-17 deploy.

Known issues indicate notable behaviors that has been escalated to the Canvas engineering team. Known issues are not a guarantee for an immediate resolution. This document is for informational purposes only and does not replace the Support process. If you are encountering the behavior outlined in this document, please ensure you have submitted a Support case (per your institution's escalation process) so Canvas Support can adequately gauge the overall customer impact and prioritize appropriately.

When a new quiz setup with respondus has assignment overrides that go beyond the everyone else dates the quiz will auto submit at the everyone else date even though the override should give more time to the submission.

Expected Behavior

Instead it should work to allow submissions on time for the setup override.

No workaround exists at this time.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Create and publish a course with Respondus enabled and a handful of students and one teacher

  2. Create a new quiz with an available and due time for everyone else set. Set the assign to for one student to be 2 minutes beyond the everyone else setting

  3. Set a time limit on the quiz for 2 minutes and add 2 minutes extra to the student with the override

  4. Act as teacher and enable respondus for the quiz

  5. When there is 2 minutes before the everyone else until date passes become the student with the override and start the quiz. You should have 4 minutes to take the quiz but the timer will only show the remaining two for the everyone else time.
