When a student's first submission was submitted on time, it will show as LATE in the SpeedGrader drop-down if a subsequent LATE re-submission is made.

Instead it should not update the LATE indicator on past submissions which were submitted on time, only on re-submissions made after the due date.

Create an assignment with a due date a few minutes out

As a student, submit to the assignment

Wait until the due date passes, and resubmit

Go into SpeedGrader and look at the submission drop-down box. You’ll see that both submissions are tagged with “LATE” after the timestamp even though only the second submission is late.
