The Instructure Community will enter a read-only state on November 22, 2025 as we prepare to migrate to our new Community platform in early December. Read our blog post for more info about this change.

This behavior has been resolved and deployed to the production environment as of 1/28/25.
When uploading an unsupported file type file to a New Quiz question, the download link for the file changes, the file name is dropped during the download process, the hash for the file is used as the downloaded file name, and the file extension is dropped.
Instead it should allow the file to be downloaded in the same format that it was uploaded.
Provide a link to a course page where the files are linked in the quiz question so users can download the files from there.
Prerequisite: Have a course with a new quiz in it
Go to the build page for the New Quiz
In a new question select the upload document option from the RCE
Select an unsupported file type, I used zip files
Save the quiz and refresh the New Quiz page
Preview the quiz and click the link to download the file
See that the files name has changed and no longer has an extenstion
