When an item is shared to another course using the “Send To” tool, it will override the receiving courses Grade Book settings

This behavior is resolved in the 2022-02-02 deploy.

Description

When a user shares an item to another teacher and they import that into their course using the “Send To” tool, it will overwrite the receiving courses' Gradebook Settings, making them match the preceding courses late and missing policies.

Expected Behavior

If a single item is shared to another course using the “Send To” tool, the Gradebook settings should not be overwritten.

Workaround

This does not occur if the item is exported, then imported into the course using “Select Specific Content.”

Steps to Reproduce

Prerequisite: Two courses with a different teacher in each

  1. Adjust the Gradebook settings of the parent course in any way (Late policy, Missing Policy, etc.)

  2. Create an item within the course, then share that item to the teacher of the child course using the “Send To” tool.

  3. As the teacher in the child course, select to import the shared item into the course.

  4. Once the item has been copied into the child course, check the gradebook settings. Notice that they have updated to match the parent courses' Gradebook settings.
