When a user is set to inactive in a course, and they are in a course group, the group will remain visible on the iOS student app. If you try to select the group, you will see the error message: User not authorized to perform that action.

Expected Behavior

Instead, the group should not appear and should behave like how the Android student app and UI works.


No workaround exists at this time.

Steps to Reproduce


  • Have a user enrolled on two courses.

  • In one course, have them set to active and in the other course, add them to a group first, then set them to inactive.

  • Log into the iOS student app, and you will be able to see the group, and if you try and access it, you will see the error message "User not authorised to perform that action".

  • When accessing the courses and groups via Android or UI, you will not see the group.
