How do I create a formative assessment with rubric criteria as a teacher?
In Mastery Connect, you can create a formative assessment with rubric criteria that is aligned with a document-based file uploaded from your computer
Assessments can be aligned to single or multiple standards. They can remain private to you, or can be shared across your school, across your district, or across the Mastery Connect community.
Open Assessments
In the global navigation menu, click the Assessments link [1]. Then, click Add Assessment button [2].
Create Assessment

To select a subject, core, and class for the assessment click the drop-down menus [1].
To select a single or multi-standard assessment click the Standard drop-down menu [2].
Enter a name for the assessment in the Title field [3].
Optionally, enter a description of the assessment in the Description field [4].
Select Privacy Settings

To select a privacy option, click the Privacy menu [1]. Then, select one of the following privacy options:
- Share With The Community [2]: You and anyone in the Mastery Connect Community can add the assessment to trackers. Only you can edit the assessment.
- Private to Me [3]: The assessment is only visible to you. Only you can add it to trackers or edit it.
- Private to My School [4]: You and others in your school can add the assessment to trackers, only you can edit the assessment.
- Private to My District [5]: You and others in your district can add the assessment to trackers. Only you can edit the assessment.
Note: If you select the Share With The Community option, the source assessment materials can not be copyrighted. To confirm this, click the Assessment is Not Copyrighted checkbox [6].
Select Assessment Source

You can upload Document-based assessment files from Microsoft Office, OpenOffice, Google Drive, Dropbox, or from a file on your computer.
To select an assessment source, click the Assessment Source drop-down menu [1]. Then, to select the file location, click the location name in the Document Based list [2].
To select the file you want to upload, click the Choose File button [3].
Note: You cannot select an assessment source document from a Google shared drive.
Add Rubric Criteria Questions
Click the Type [1] drop down list and click the Rubric Criteria option [2]. To select the number of questions you want to add to the assessment, enter the number in the Qty box [2].
To add the questions to the assessment, click the Add button [3].
Enter Question Details
By default, each rubric criteria question includes four rating blocks with values of 0-3 points. To add or delete the number of ratings you want to use for a question, click the Plus and Minus icons [1].
To change the pre-populated value for a rating, delete the existing number and enter the new value in the box [2]. Each subsequent rating you add will have a point value that is one higher than the highest number currently in the series.
If you are creating a multi-standard assessment, select the standard to which you want to align each individual question from the Standards drop-down menu [3].
If your school or district uses tags, find the tags you wish to use in the Tags drop-down menu and click the appropriate checkboxes [5].
To delete a question from the assessment, click the Remove icon [5].
Enter Single-Standard Mastery Cut Scores

In a single-standard assessment the total number of points possible on the assessment displays in the Scoring column [1].
To enter mastery cut scores, enter the number of points required for Mastery in the Mastery box [2] and the number of points required for Near Mastery in the Near Mastery box [3].
Enter Multi-Standard Mastery Cut Scores

For multi-standard assessments, the Scoring column displays the total number of points possible for each standard [1]
To enter mastery cut scores, enter the number of points required for Mastery in the M box [2], and the number of points required for Near Mastery in the NM box [3].
To view details about a standard, hover the cursor over the standard name [4] to display the standard details box [5].
Create Assessment

To save your changes and create the assessment, click the Create Assessment button [1].
Note: To remove all selections on the page, click the Reset button [2]
