Item Banks - Import QTI into existing bank

Will it ever be possible to import a QTI with additional items into an existing, already populated Item Bank?

Again, this assumes the bank already has items, not a newly-created, empty bank.

Also, I have found that even a bank that I empty by deleting all items cannot take items from a direct import. Although the import process will again become available and goes through the motions of a successful import, once I get the successful import message, my bank is still empty.

Thanks for posting this in the Canvas Community! 

This is a great question! I really hope that this becomes possible in the future. I can see why it would be useful for instructors who are wanting to  add additional questions to an existing item bank. It seems like some sort of limitation that currently exists for Item banks for New Quizzes.

You might be able to see if an idea has been presented already that addresses this
