I am an instructional coach. I create ACT material for my teachers and share it with them. Recently, I created a stimulus quiz in new quizzes. The passage is on the left and the questions on the right. On my account, it previews correctly. When I share it with the teacher, it does not come up as a stimulus quiz. It just has the questions. Is there something specific I have to do to share it so it will come up correctly for the teacher?
Thanks!

Hey @DrTraciJohnson!
New Quizzes can sometimes act a little differently than expected. However, when I export the New Quiz as a QTI file and import it into a new course, I seem to always have the expected results. Try the following guides for exporting and importing the New Quiz that contains a stimulus and questions. Every time I have tried this method, the questions stayed connected to the Stimulus.
How do I export a New Quiz from a course?
How do I import a quiz from a QTI package in New Quizzes?
Hope this helps to solve your issue. Good luck!

Thanks for this feedback. @ryan_corris
Perhaps you can provide some background information on my experiences.
I too am an instructional coach for our district, like @DrTraciJohnson is. When one of the teachers in my district tried to share their new quiz with another teacher, the receiving teacher says that the new quiz shared content imports into their course as a "classic" quiz, not a new quiz. That auto-retro-conversion behavior sounded odd, but I was able to replicate the experience, too.
It wasn't until the "sharer" was enrolled in the destination course that they could use the COPY TO to share the New Quiz, but that's an extra step and time delay writing to the other teacher.
It sounds like QTI quiz export is another good idea, but do you know if there is something we might be doing "wrong" that we cannot share user-to-user, Ryan? And if not, is there anything in the works to allow user-to-user sharing New Quizzes to work down the road?
I tried searching the New Quizzes group, but this is the closest related post I could find. Thanks for any insight you could offer here.

Hey @QC99_tsilvius!
I was in a conversation not too long ago where this was the topic of discussion. If I am remembering correctly, there is an option that can be turned on or off at the account level that restricts the ability to use Classic Quiz so the New Quizzes come in as New Quizzes. Not having access to the admin side of things, I am not sure where to go or what it is actually called, but if this cannot be set up in your account now, from my understanding it will eventually happen. Don't know when though.
I believe that I saw that setting too, but we really don't want to turn off Classic Quizzes. Too many teachers use them and as my Technology Instructional Coaching position is brand new this year, we really haven't had many opportunities to test-run and regain faith in New Quizzes prior to this year.
That aside, although it sounds like that might work, we're not at a point to turn off Classic Quizzes.
In your conversation, does it sound like this is a known issue in the community (user-to-user sharing vs. course-to-course (or QTI export) sharing) and/or if it is that big of an issue for the dev team to look into?
I agree that many people are still using Classic and would be difficult to turn off.
I feel like it definitely a known thing, but I do not know to what extent it is being looked into or addressed. Wish I had a better answer for you.
Also, know that if you are given the default "designer" role in Canvas, you cannot create new quizzes right now. I just ran into this with a third-party provider that I assigned a "designer" role to. Canvas is aware and it was done intentionally. I did add this to be updated, especially if Classic quizzes ever get sunset, then designers will need to be able to convert them to new quizzes.
Thank you, @j-vanwagner ! Every clue helps! I feel I really want to start promoting New Quizzes more especially with the TEI question types available, but there are a few things I'm coming across that still make me go hmmmmm??no matter how many feature overview videos and guides and group posts I review 🙂 It's one of the reasons I'm not ready to turn off Classic Quizzes just yet.
