In the Categorize type question students missed 1 out of 10 and got 0 points. There is no partial credit. Is that always true? Or did I miss a button to push?#catergorize

Hi @lwaldman
No its not there and it is also not there for the following New Quizzes question types:
There are a number of Feature Ideas/requests so please add your vote to them all:

Whilst you are thinking about New Quizzes you may also want to vote for these ideas to ensure the RCE, rich content editor, is in place for a number of New Quizzes:

These are NOT new ideas but requests to ensure that New Quizzes has the same feature parity as Classic Quizzes!
This was frustrating to me too at first, but i found a mini-solution:
You can do the same thing as a two-category Categorization question with a Multiple Answer question and just having them select the ones that are in one of the categories. Also, with Multiple Answer questions you can select "Partial Credit" and it seems to be working.

This is not solved!!!! It's extremely frustrating to find issues that are still very much issues marked as solved!

Your workaround solution may work for you but doesn't for me. Most of my categorization questions have 3-5 categories, and I'm not planning on breaking them up. It's incredibly frustrating when it takes a simple change in the programming code to fix the entire problem (I know a few programmers, and they all say it should be a pretty quick and straightforward fix) and solve the frustration of the instructors and students who don't understand or benefit from a lack of partial credit. For example, it is extremely defeating to students to be marked down significantly for one error if a dozen options need to be categorized. And before someone says, "just make the question worth fewer points," that doesn't solve the issue either. Canvas programmers (or whatever they are called in this case) need to fix their program code. It STILL isn't even in their plan to correct any partial credit issues (for the next few years, I might add), despite instructors begging for this to be fixed since Canvas introduced new quizzes. At this point, it is blatant neglect of what is in the best interest of students or the instructor.
This STILL isn't even on their list of what they plan to do at Canvas before their full roll-out and forced implementation. Are you kidding? I waste at least an extra week's worth of my time each semester adjusting for this deliberate oversight on your part, Canvas. If you don't believe that it takes that much time, send someone to my courses in the fall. I will give them the task of updating all the partial credits and logging how many hours it takes so you understand what a waste of time having to do this is. Please fix this! This is beyond ridiculous that we have to beg for something that should be already a part of something you claim is superior to the previous product.
