Archiving Assignments

We assign daily work to our students. Therefore, there are a lot of assignments. As I prepare the links for upcoming homework I am having to scroll through more and more previous assignments to get to the current week's work and it's only September. I'd like a way to archive those assignments so that when I prepare to link to an assignment I am only seeing the current ones I have created. I work with students with special needs so a link to a list of assignments or a module isn't going to work, I need it as simple as possible. We have a button for each day of the week that takes them directly to that day's assignment.
