Assigning Through Google Kit

I assign assignments through Google Kit because it seems to be the most reliable method.  However, today I noticed a problem.

I have students in my classes who receive different assignments from the regular ed students in our classes.  So, I enter specific students' names under "Assign." Today, a regular ed student submitted an accommodated assignment that he/she found in his/her Assignments folder that Canvas creates. This is a problem because that student isn't completing the appropriate assignment.

How can Canvas improve so that ALL assignments assigned aren't appearing in the Assignments folder? Google Classroom linked it beautifully, and this would not happen on Google Classroom.
