Attendance

Hello,

I hope all is well.

Under Attendance, I would like to use the option to take roll. But I need certain students to be able to upload file on my behalf. What role can I give those student that will give them the ability to on the roster and give them the ability to upload files?

Hi  @thomasd1  Welcome to the Canvas Community!

The ability, permission, for faculty to change user roles may be limited by your Canvas Admin. However, if you do have that permission level, this guide should help  What user roles and permissions are available in Canvas? 

Let me also address the 400 lb. gorilla in the closet - why do you need students to upload files in order to take attendance? The Roll Call/Attendance tool does not require any kind of document upload.   See the Attendance (Roll Call) Chapter of the Instructor Guide.

Are you having your students upload something to verify attendance? For this functionality, why not just leave them as students and use an online assignment for their uploads. Learn more at How do I create an online assignment?
