A few questions to narrow it down.
1. What browser/OS are you using?
2. Do you hear the distortion in the echo test?
3. Is your audio always distorted or sometimes distorted?
4. Can you try the echo test at https://test.bigbluebutton.org/ and let us know if the quality is any different.
