Can I change the Group Set on an Assignment AFTER I students have submitted it and before grading?

I created an assignment in Canvas

I assigned it to the "Project Group", but I didn't put students in project groups, I put the in "Case Study Groups".

We haven't started grading, so can I change Assignment to the Case Study Group without screwing anything up?

No, once you have student submissions you cannot change the group set that an assignment is assigned to.   If you are editing the assignment, you should see a message that says something like "This group assignment already has submission" and the option to change the group set should be grayed out.

Is there anyway to change this from Canvas?

It is inconvenient when a student makes a mistake and turns something in by accident and now I have to grade all of the papers multiple times.

Agreed - seems like the system should have grace to make this adjustment.  We are humans and make errors.
