Can a course automatically populated through PowerSchool be separated into two different courses in Canvas?

PowerSchool automatically creates a Canvas course for each of our classes but it puts students in the same subject into a course together. Normally that's great because I post 99% of the same thing to all classes in the same subject. Unfortunately this year I have 2 classes that have the same name in PowerSchool but are actually two totally different groups of students learning different things. Is there a way to separate them into two different courses in Canvas and still have the students and grades sync with PowerSchool?
