Can't get push notifications on phone

Android 9 Moto G plus.  "Push notifications have not been registered for this device".  Battery saving is not active.

I'm an instructor, using the student app as a test student.  Possibly that is the problem?  If so, how do I get notifications as an instructor?

Hi Scott - What do you experience with the Canvas Teacher app? If you're signed-in with Canvas Student but don't have Canvas Teacher on your device, you can only receive one set of notifications at a time.
