Chat function not available

My school may be moving to Canvas, so I requested a free trial account and I am trying to learn the system.

I want to set up a chat, but when I go to Settings / Navigation / I do not see "Chat" as one of my options.

I really need this function.

Can you please tell me how to add it to my trial course?

Hi  @ringogli  and welcome to the Community!  Do you happen to be using a Free For Teacher's account for testing?  If so the reply from stefaniesanders in this thread https://community.canvaslms.com/thread/45578-enable-chat-on-free-for-teachers-account describes how to request that the Chat feature be enabled.

I've also been trying to enable the chat feature in my Canvas Free for Teachers account.

Has anyone had any luck? I tried using the "Report a Problem" to request that chat be enabled, and after two months, was given this:

"We are no longer able to provide support for all Free For Teacher help requests. The status of this case has been set to Closed."

Does this mean that the Chat feature will no longer be accessible to Canvas Free for Teachers accounts?

Does anyone know what type of account is needed to just add the Chat feature to Free for Teachers? Or how much it costs to turn on the Chat feature?
