Chromebook Question

I have a student who is trying to submit assignments via a Chromebook. I asked her how she is submitting the assignment and she responded that after she writes the assignment in Google drive she converts the assignment to MS Word. So my first question is can she save the Word document locally?

She doesn't have her Google drive account connected to Canvas because the instructor requires Word documents. So my second question is should she connect the Google drive account to Canvas? Will she be able to select the Word document then?

Hey snugent, yes the student can download a MS Word version of their Google Doc to their Chromebook's local storage and then upload it normally. If you want a more detailed explanation of how this process works with screenshots let me know and I'll be happy to comply.

Thanks! That would be great to have screenshots! Thanks so much! Smiley Happy

So here's the process visually for downloading a MS Word version of a Google Doc.

The process for selecting that file for an assignment submission is virtually the same as on any other OS, they will get a view of the Chrome OS file manager (think Explorer for Windows and Finder for OSX) and they will select it. Let me know if there are still any questions or concerns.
