Classes from last semester still on my main page

All my classes from the previous semester (Fall 2019) are still on my main page.  In the past, they have gone away automatically when the new semester starts but not this time.  How do I make them go away so I just have my current courses there?  Thanks!

Hello Kevin,

Classes are generally displayed on the Dashboard by default based on the "end date" that your school has set for the semester.  In many cases, they may set the "end date" to be well past when the semester actually ends, so that last semester's classes are easily accessible, or because there is extended grading, or many other reasons.

However, you can manually choose which courses show up on the Dashboard by going to Courses > All Courses and clicking the stars next to the courses you want to see in order to mark them as "favorites".

In addition to the information that  @mzimmerman  has given you, you can also customize your course list to display only the courses you want to appear on your Canvas Dashboard.  Check out https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-10570-4212710327 for more information.  This is where you can "favorite" any courses you want to appear on the Dashboard by placing a star next to that course name.  I hope this extra bit of information is helpful to you, Kevin.

I understand but im still receiving assignments

@MelanieRuiz It may be worthwhile to reach out to the instructor of the course.  If it is really over and you are still receiving assignments, then either they are using the old course to develop their current course or they are accidentally using the wrong course.  In both cases, I think the instructor would want to know that messages are going out to the past students.  

We run courses past the end date so if there are students with incompletes, it makes it easier for the instructor and student to make up the work.  We also though create sandbox courses for instructors to work on planning without notifications going out.
