Collaboration in Canvas for primary students

This year will be the first year our K-12 campus will be using Canvas. At the elementary level we will still be allowed to link our Seesaw assignments to Canvas for another year.  Any advice on how to use Canvas groups to help primary students collaborate?  There is information out there for using Google docs as a way to collaborate in Canvas but I would like to keep it as simple as possible.
