Commenting on group projects

When grading a group assignment, my comments are not being stored.  It says "All comments are sent to the whole group".  I type comments, hit submit, it says "Your comment has been submitted", but it disappears.  I can't see it and no students are receiving the comments.  

Anyone else have trouble?  I've emailed support but haven't gotten an answer.

I too have just noticed this concern.

I figured it out - it was MY mistake.  When I created the projects I assigned them to a generic Group Project instead of the exact group that was created for that assignment..... or something like that.   I'd share screenshots and go back and see what I did - BUT I can't edit that assignment to see the details since it was last semester.

this is one of the DUMBEST features I have ever seen in Canvas.  If you comment to a group it EMAILS them.  You can't see your own comment either without going to your inbox and looking at the submission comments.  who would do this and WHY???
