Custom To-Do list

Jump to solution

We are trying to build a custom checklist of things to be done by a student other than the ones that automatically shows up in the existing To-Do list such as submit assignment or take a quiz (see reference: https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-1571). Is there a way to manually create a new “to-do” item in Canvas and be able to manage this list? Thanks!

Creating and managing a custom To-Do List for Canvas is a relatively easy thing to do with JavaScript, however, this is a poor choice. The simple matter is the ability to remember whether something is marked completed and whether ir can be unique or not.

If a third-party system is set-up, this is perfectly doable. We set-up our own system for dynamically loading LiveChat for our online students and have it load a group specific to where they're accessing it (MTH099 students wouldn't get BUS672 faculty). The problem comes with setting up such a system and doing so in a secure manner, neither one is a particularly easy task.

aze.baltisoto, no, there is no way on the front end of Canvas to do any of this type of customization. Yet, I'm not sure if something like this would be possible on the back-end of Canvas. I'm going to share this with the Canvas Developers group in the Community to see if they have any suggestions.
