Deleting prior comments when resubmitting an assignment

I submitted an assignment the first time and added a comment. Then I decided to resubmit the assignment and retyped the same comment, not knowing that the first comment would still show up on the right hand side of the page. I have resubmitted for the third (and last) time and need to delete the comments connected with the two prior submissions because they aren't pertinent. Is there a way to do this?

As a student, you cannot delete comments. Your instructor can delete comments in the SpeedGrader.

Thanks. It would make sense for Canvas to provide us with this capability.

I can see why they don't want students to delete comments, but I agree that more agency is always better than less.
