Discussion Comments - Text Auto-fill

A relatively annoying aspect of using the comment tool in Discussions is that CANVAS seems to have been set up in way that doesn't allow for text to auto-fill in the comment field. This requires me to constantly needing to expand the comment section when I paste text in the comment field.

Does anyone know of a way to either ensure text auto-fills in the comment field or where I can request that CANVAS developers a simple change that would allow for it?
