Last week, my students completed a Canvas discussion. I created a separate discussion for each of my class periods.
The Speed Grader works for all of the discussions except for one. In one of the discussions, the speed grader does not pull up any student names or any student posts. In the gradebook, the discussion is listed but the column is a darker gray and there is no place for grades. Any idea why this may be happening? It is set up to be a graded assignment and it has been assigned to one entire class period. Students have responded - I can see their responses in the discussion thread, just not in the speed grader. Names aren't even listed in the Speed Grader. Here's how it looks in the gradebook and when I try to open Speed Grader:
The way that assignment (discussion) column is appearing in the gradebook, it appears as if it has been "differentiated" and not assigned to any of the students you were viewing when took that screenshot of the gradebook. Check out What do differentiated assignments with different due dates look like in Canvas and see if that helps. This information might just be review for you since it sounds like you're already using differentiated assignments. This is probably just an "assign to" mistake and once you fix that your students will see it and be able to complete it.
Hi @lauren_canafax ...
We haven't heard from you since you first posted this question on February 6th. Have you had a chance to review the responses from awilliams and @rmurchshafer2 ? If so, did either of those responses help to answer your question? If so, please go ahead and mark one of them as "Correct". But, if you are still looking for some assistance with this question, please post a message below so that members of the Community can continue to help you troubleshoot. For now, I am going to mark your question as "Assumed Answered" since we haven't heard from you in a while (and there hasn't been any new activity in this topic for a while, either), but that won't prevent you or others from posting additional replies below. I hope that's okay with you. Looking forward to hearing from you, Lauren!
