Does each teacher need her own Zoom account?

Hi Folks,

We're considering using Zoom for our weekly live classes (our K12 program is completely online). If we use the new Zoom LTI for Canvas, would each teacher need her own Zoom Pro account? (I say Zoom Pro, cause the Basic accounts only allow meetings up to 40 minutes.) If not, we would try to share accounts as needed, since our classes are spread out throughout the week.

Thanks for your help!

Hi  @andrewg1 ,

If you wanted everyone to be able to have meetings above 40 minutes then yes, you would need a license for each of the teachers. With Zoom I know you can manage the licenses and drop people down to the free license if they no longer need it, but doing so on a daily basis would likely get tedious.

As for sharing accounts, I would recommend you review the Zoom terms and conditions at ZOOM TERMS OF SERVICE - Zoom  which do state "A Host may hold an unlimited number of Meetings, but only one Meeting at a time. A Host subscription may not be shared or used by anyone other than the individual assigned to be a Host."

Hope that helps!

Stuart
