Drop lowest points (not assignments)

I have created assignments in excess of the maximum amount counted toward the student’s overall grade, in order for a student to miss a couple of assignments without it impacting their overall grade. For example, the total points available for all homework assignments is 35 points, but only 30 points will be counted in the overall grade.
Canvas seems to allow me to drop the lowest scores (assignments) but not a fixed amount. I have different assignments that have different point values, so the maximum number of points I want to ignore is 5. For some students, this could be comprised of a 3-point assignment and a 2-point assignment. For others, it could be two 2-point assignments and one 1-point assignment. Is there a way to accomplish this in Canvas with the Dropping lowest score option?
