Good morning! If you're looking to quickly send messages to specific (or all) users in a Canvas course, I would recommend using the Canvas Inbox/Conversations tool. This messaging tool lives in Canvas on the Global Navigation bar, and allows you to quickly drill down and message individuals in classes that you are either leading or are enrolled in.
As far as an overview of how this tool works, I would recommend you taking a look at this how-to article to start with.
As a side note, if users have turned on notification settings for messaging they'll also receive an email with the same conversation message from Canvas - this way, students receive/can reply in two places (their email inbox and their Canvas inbox).
