Emoticons in Grading Feedback

Best practices in online courses suggest using emoticons to help express what body language and facial expressions do in face-to-face courses. Emoticons are especially useful in providing students with critiques to assist in conveying what students could easily misinterpret as negative criticism rather than a sincere critique. It would be beneficial to be able to include emoticons in the feedback area of the gradebook.

I know it is only slightly related but if you have not seen this I thought you would find https://community.canvaslms.com/groups/gamification/blog/2016/03/23/grade-with-emoji?sr=search&searc... interesting or at least amusing.

Thanks, Adam. I can see some possibilities for this on an individual assignment. I'm going to suggest this approach to a faculty member who wants to give badges for an individual assignment, something that Badgr doesn't currently allow.

This feature is not part of the New Gradebook scope, however there is an existing feature idea that you can add your use case and vote to.  https://community.canvaslms.com/ideas/2848-create-an-emoji-button-in-the-comment-section-of-speedgra...
