Best practices in online courses suggest using emoticons to help express what body language and facial expressions do in face-to-face courses. Emoticons are especially useful in providing students with critiques to assist in conveying what students could easily misinterpret as negative criticism rather than a sincere critique. It would be beneficial to be able to include emoticons in the feedback area of the gradebook.

Thanks, Adam. I can see some possibilities for this on an individual assignment. I'm going to suggest this approach to a faculty member who wants to give badges for an individual assignment, something that Badgr doesn't currently allow.
