Help with advancing to next module

Hello, one of my students says they are not able to advance to the next module in our course. Is there a way to see exactly how far the student has progressed in the modules on canvas instructure? I have a feeling they haven't fully watched the video and that's why it is not letting them advance, but I'd like to be able to see and show them on my laptop.

Thank you,

Katya

Hi kkaps96@gmail.com‌,

If you navigate to the Modules section of your course, you should see a 'View Progress' button at the top right of the screen which should let you see the student's progress on the module. For more details, see the How do I use modules to view the progress of students in a course? guide. Hope this helps!

Hello thank you! This was helpful, I was able to find that the next modules

are "locked" for this student (screenshot attached) is there a way to

unlock these modules?

Thanks,

Katya

Hi kkaps96@gmail.com

the most likely suspect is that the module is locked until a specific date, rather than based on some student performance.  You can learn more at https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-13092-415241433

Let us know if unlocking (or simply changing the lock until date) helps.

Hi Kelley,

Thank you for this information on how to edit modules. Unfortunately, the

modules in question did not have a time prerequisite. Is there anything

else that could be causing this?

Thank you,

Katya

Without further information this is hard to tell.  Your screenshot starts at session 12, could there be a prerequisite based on the modules Session 1 through 11? Could you have re-ordered the modules to create a conflict?

Could you share a screenshot of the settings for the Session 14 module?

I'll check the other modules for an error in prerequisites, but it is

strange that this issue has only come up with 1 student. I have attached

screenshots of Module 14 and of the student's progress.

Thank you,

Katya

You have just provided an important clue - "one student"!

  • What browser is that student using and is it current? See............Which browsers does Canvas support? We strongly recommend FireFox or Chrome.
  • Is the student accessing the course on a mobile device? If so, are they using the Canvas Student App or a browser? If they are using the App, is it current?

Other than these issues, then I would suggest submitting a support ticket.

Thanks for these potential barriers! I'll reach out to the student to find

out, and will submit a ticket if we still experience trouble. Thank you for

your help!
