Host raw HTML in Canvas page

Jump to solution

I have a small collection of interlinked HTML pages I want to include in a course. The behavior I want is as follows: the Canvas page links to HTML that is uploaded as a collection of course files, but does not preview or download the HTML content. Instead the user should leave Canvas (or open a new tab) and visit the hosted content directly. I was able to do this, but then needed to update the HTML. I re-uploaded and linked to the new files, but suddenly Canvas will only download the HTML content to the local cache, where it is visited. The problem is that all the links are broken, because they are still pointing to the files hosted on Canvas.
Is there a way to do what I want?

Solved. Replaced the link address .../files/112406/download?download_frd=1 with .../files/112406/download. Now the link targets the hosted content directly. It is not downloaded to the local machine or wrapped in the Canvas interface, but displayed without any additional layers in the browser.
