How can I prevent downloads of documents?

Jump to solution

Hello All

From previous posts I have found how to edit the HTML so that when you click on a link within a page it opens in a larger view screen, and does not download, but then when I go onto that view, it shows me the option to download the file as a link there.

Is there a way of removing this, or a different full page view? I would like to use Canvas for displaying some documents I do not want staff to be able to download to their device.

Many thanks!

Hi

Thank you for the link. Unfortunately we cannot use Google Docs, and from the HTML edit I had been using previously, I am getting different screen options than the person who suggested it.

A potential idea I have had is to use a full stop, highlight that for the file link, make it white so it cannot be seen, then make the file auto preview, so HOPEFULLY staff will just move between full screen and reduced, and not be able to click on the link to download it. as it is unseen and very small. I do not link the very disable download link in the option where you click the link and it takes you to the viewer.

Any other thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
