How do I manually enter grades in the grade book?

How do I manually enter grades in the grade book? I don't see the little triangle that allowed me to download files.

In the past, I could go down the list and click on each individual student and enter a grade. This was perfect for when a student turned something in late. Now, I can only either download all assignments at once or go into Speed Grader and click next one at a time until I find the student with the late submission. 

Nearly every file my students submit are Adobe files like Photoshop, Illustrator, or InDesign which I can't preview. The updated Canvas has easily doubled the amount of time it takes me to grade Adobe file submissions.

Welcome to the community! Thanks for providing the background information related to your question. I'm assuming you're using the new gradebook.

You don't have to click next one at a time to get to the student's late submission. There's a better way.  @tolinm ‌ mentioned it during her #canvascasters‌ podcast episode --> sort by submission status in Speedgrader (or you can also sort by submission date in the case of a late submission).

If you are using the new gradebook, you can still manually enter grades (of course, you would need to download the individual student's submission first via Speedgrader, so it might be best to just enter the grade from the speedgrader portal).

Thank you for getting back to me. I found how to sort by submission status. However, as far as efficiency goes, this is still far slower than the previous grade book layout. Now, I have to switch back and forth in the Speedgrader portal between views just to enter grades. Our RMS is Skyward, not Canvas, so this only slows me down more as I have to manually enter grades in a Skyward grade book after I grade items on Canvas. Unlike some file types, I do not get a preview. I still have to download each file to view it. 

Who at Canvas do I need to contact to reinstate the ability to download files directly from the grade book without having to go into the portal? To remove functions of a program/site that easily could have just been left in seems like a massive oversight on Canvas's end. It makes no sense and is only less efficient in every way.

You should not have to manually enter grades to Skyward, as pass-backs are available. We are not a Skyward schools, but these documents should help, and you will likely need to start conversations with your school's IT folks.

There was talk of this in our district but nothing has happened after about two years so I think I'm stuck transferring grades over manually. This is why I am suggesting that Canvas just keep the manual grade book functionality in place.

 @mblaskowski , to download submissions for an assignment directly from the Gradebook, click on the three dots that appear to the right of the assignment name in the column header and select Download Submissions from the menu.

I am aware that I can download all assignments at once. I would like to be able to download an individual assignment easily from the grade book. Please read the initial post and let me know if you have a solution. Thank you.

Sorry,  @mblaskowski , I've never had occasion to download a single student's assignment directly from the Gradebook; when I needed to do that, I accessed the student's assignment through Speedgrader.
