How does Google Meet LTI appear when launched through Canvas? What is the benefit of installing Google Meet LTI?

I just installed Google Meet LTI into my Canvas apps in Admin Settings. I know this feature is free through the end of the month. We are considering becoming a G Suite Enterprise school, so I'd like to know how Google Meet LTI works in Canvas. The LTI is not accessible through the Course Navigation menu; rather the teacher posts a link to the Google Meet in Canvas. What is the difference between having the LTI and not having the LTI? Does it launch directly inside Canvas or does it launch another window/tab from the browser?
