You have a personal user folder in Canvas, and sometimes that folder can get full. If you upload files to Canvas to submit as assignments, you can delete them from your files once you've submitted them (submitted files cannot be deleted). You may want to see what is in your user files and see what you can delete. Discussion files always go against your user quota unless the discussion is graded.
