@gtmiller1 , thank you for letting us know that you've benefited from the advice given so far. If you are able to discover the reason for the error message, please take a moment to come back to this question and either mark one of the answers with the "Correct Answer" designation or update the thread with a brief description of the resolution.
If it works on campus and not off campus and given the error i would suggest checking your proxy settings. That error is a web server closing the connection because the ssl connection could not be established. It could be your browser is trying to use the on campus proxy fromout side the campus for some urls and it is being disallowed. I dont know the browser so cant advise on where those settings will be.

We've had students who have had this issue and it always seems to be related to satellite internet connections.
I too had used Opera for about six months a number of years ago as I wanted to experience the product due to the touted speed and security. But I ended up with Chrome for various reasons: Google apps, Drive, higher availability of plug-ins, a persistent bookmark toolbar on all my devices, etc.
ps. Opera is currently at .59% - 1.3% market share, depending on the source.

I have been using Canvas with Vivaldi since Day 1 and have had only one issue with it (Arc).
When I am forced to use Chrome, I feel as if I am going back to Windows 95.
Vivaldi is the best browser available and it gets better with each release.
