Is there a way to tag a student in the context of a Canvas discussion?

In a Canvas discussion, when replying to student X, is there a way to tag students A and B, for example, so that their attention will be drawn to the reply to student X, or to indicate that A and B have some relevant expertise or prior posts? I'm thinking something like the +xyz@pdq.edu option in a google doc comment, which sends email notification. In Canvas, maybe this tag-callout would point to a Conversation or one's activity stream on the Dashboard? Thanks in advance for pointing out any features or workarounds.

Unfortunately not, pbogart​, and it has been the subject of at least two Feature Ideas.  The most recent one is here:

And an earlier one is below, which has a reply from Instructure.   (Though we're in 2016 and nothing quite yet.)
