Issues with iPad, onscreen comments, and Speedgrader?

Jump to solution

So is anyone else having issues with the new markup features on the iPad?  I can mark up one assignment just fine.  When I swipe to the next submission, I select the markup tools, and try to write on the screen.  The tools don't work and the screen just moves all over the place, like I'm dragging it around.  I often have to reselect the student using the drop down, and select the markup tools again to get it to work.  This is really killing my workflow.

Don't get me wrong, I love the ability to write on the assignment with my Apple Pencil and iPad.  It just seems really really buggy at this point.

I'm still on iOS 10, btw.

Ok.  I didn't know that they officially retired the Speedgrader app.  You need to use the Canvas Teacher app. Speedgrader in the Canvas Teacher app is working like a charm.  Can you all try that and let me know if you still have the issues?

Hi  @memace1988 ‌ ~ You're not the only one who has experienced this! A few of my colleagues have reported this as well. Have you submitted a Help ticket, by chance?

I added a few tags and shared this question with the Canvas Teacher Focus group and https://community.canvaslms.com/groups/cmug?sr=search&searchId=2d5d53a5-3d47-4192-a731-8d9a0c5a6426&...‌ to see if we can get some more people to find this question. I hope that's okay with you.

Same here, I highly suggest you submit a ticket as this isn't an isolated issue.

I've submitted a ticket to our internal helpdesk.  It will need to filter through them to get to our Canvas admin for Canvas themselves to get it.  I'll update as I know more.

Hi  @memace1988 ‌,

I'm sorry, I read your original reply and thought something else. I now associate mobile SpeedGrader with the Teacher app and didn't think about the previous standalone SpeedGrader app.

Yes, this should work correctly in the Teacher app. If you find something different, drop a message here.
