Keeps saying I don't have access to etext

Every time I click a link, to a part of an etext, in modules of units I'm enrolled in, it says Sorry, I don't have access and need to purchase it. I then have to click the etext button on the side menu, which shows the etext, before I can access it via the in-module link, but I have to do this every time I log in to Canvas.

This sounds like your course is using an external tool to link to a vendor provided etext.  I would recommend that you contact your instructor in the course and maybe see if there is contact information for the etext vendor.  There may be other steps that you are missing in order to access the etext information.
